Genea Fertility Specialist, Dr Derek Lok presenting at The General Practitioner Conference & Exhibition in Sydney

Genea is proud to announce that Fertility Specialist Dr Derek Lok will be presenting new insights into reproductive failures and treatments at this year’s GPCE in Sydney – the session is scheduled for 10am on Sunday 20th May during “Meet The Experts” in the Dome. Reproductive failures have a wide spectrum of presentations ranging from infertility, fertility treatment failure, recurrent pregnancy loss and severe obstetric complications. These may share the same underlying pathologies of different severity from embryonic (oocyte, sperm) origins or implantation issues. The advances in reproductive technologies have provided great insights into the relative importance of these various factors, hence our strategies in dealing with these often difficult and previously poorly understood conditions. Case studies will be used to facilitate the presentation.

If you are attending, drop past the Genea stand (D33) for a visit and the chance to win the new 64GB Apple iPad valued at $804!

Free PGD information evening in Parramatta

Do you have patients with a genetic disorder or know of a genetic disorder in the family who are considering having children?  If so, they are invited to hear about Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis or PGD.

PGD is the process of screening embryos for genetic disorders. Once screened, healthy embryos can be implanted with the aim of producing a healthy pregnancy and baby.

Because PGD involves genetic screening of the embryo at Day 5 or 6 of development, it is done as part of an IVF cycle. While IVF is usually used to help couples with fertility problems, it is also used with PGD to help people with genetic disorders in their family to have healthy children.

Genea is the most successful PGD clinic in the world, offering testing for over 170 chromosome and
genetic conditions, with the ability to develop new tests as required.  We were the first clinic worldwide to introduce PGD successfully for Day 5 embryos.

To find out more about IVF and PGD and how it may be able to help your patients have a healthy baby, ask them to attend our free information evening.  They can hear about PGD from top practitioners, then enjoy some light refreshments and talk through any questions they have.

The evening is at 7pm, March 22 at Rydges Parramatta, 116 James Ruse Drive, Rosehill 2142.

Places are limited, so ask your patients to register now at sydneyivf.com/events or call 02 9229 6484 for more information.
