We all know the importance of a healthy diet in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and improving general health and the opportunity it creates to improve fertility - or do we?
Whether you’re trying to conceive or just trying to get healthy, how often have you heard that the best type of diet is to eat in moderation and to follow a balanced diet? It all sounds like common sense, but how simple is it really?
There are a number of diets and dietary recommendations that have been published by various organisations and authors, many designed to promote good health and improve wellbeing. Some of these dietary recommendations are beneficial, while others fail to achieve necessary nutritional goals. With so much advice it’s hard to know which diet is right for you.
For most of us, lack of time and the pace of life are the major factors why we forego eating a healthy and balanced diet. Working long hours, eating on the fly, preparing and cooking food incorrectly, or gravitating towards prepackaged food for convenience, can all contribute to an unhealthy diet - translating to less energy and a reduced quality of life.
So, in light of these challenges, we ask you how nutritious is your diet? Is preparing a well balanced and healthy lunch simple? What does one “serve” of vegetables mean? Can you stick to a healthy eating plan for one day? How about seven?
In the 2012 Genea Holistic 7 Day Healthy Eating Challenge we helped unravel some of the mysteries of nutrition and answer the simple question: “What is a healthy diet?”
Participants had access to an easy to follow 7 day meal plan including recipes and a convenient shopping list. They received daily emails throughout the week commencing 30th January to help participants keep you on track providing tips and helpful information about nutrition and how to lead a healthy lifestyle – not only for the 7 day challenge but for good!
