What is PGD?

PGD is a series of detailed genetic tests that allows embryos to be selected or excluded depending on their genetic make-up.

PGD uses three major types of analyses:

Polymerase Chain Reaction – PCR

- Single gene disorders, translocations, sex selection

Comparative Genome Hybridisation – CGH

- 24 chromosomal aneuploidy, translocations

Fluorescent in-situ Hybridization – FISH

- Translocations, chromosomal aneuploidy, sex selection
