New figures released today prove that not all fertility clinics are the same. A review of assisted reproductive technology (ART) treatments in Australia and New Zealand in 2011 shows Genea patients have a 40 per cent better chance* of taking home a healthy baby compared to the average success rate of other Australian and New Zealand fertility clinics. The Genea difference has increased close to 10 per cent over the past 12 months.
There were 66,347 ART cycles performed across the two countries in 2011, an increase of 8.3 per cent for Australia but a fall of 1.8 per cent for New Zealand.
Of those cycles, 23 per cent resulted in a pregnancy and 18 per cent in a live birth. In comparison, at Genea clinics, 30 per cent of cycles resulted in a pregnancy and 23 per cent in a live birth.
Using the more accurate figure of live births per embryo transfer, at Genea clinics the result was a 28.7 per cent chance of success compared to an average of 20.5 per cent at all other Australian and New Zealand clinics. A 40 per cent better chance.
Genea Director Dr Robert Woolcott said, in other words, if the Genea chance of success was extrapolated to all ART cycles carried out across Australia and New Zealand in 2011, we could expect another 3,800 babies would have been born.
“These figures show that Genea offers couples the best chance of achieving their dream of starting a family. Coming to Genea for fertility treatment gives you on average a 40 per cent better chance of taking home a healthy baby,” Dr Woolcott said.
Genea is dedicated to improving all areas of fertility treatment; we invest approximately 10 per cent of revenue each year into research and development. That dedication to advancing the science of treating infertility has seen the gap between Genea’s IVF success rates and other Australian and New Zealand clinics grow since 2009.
“But we’re not stopping there. We anticipate a number of technological advances currently in the pipeline at Genea will lead to even better outcomes for our patients,” Dr Woolcott said.
Analysis of the figures also shows fertility treatment at Genea offers the best chance of success across each individual age group.
