We are currently seeking a Biochemisty Technical Officer to join our Canberra Laboratory on a fixed term contract (12 months). This is an entry level role suited to someone with a Degree in Medical Sciences looking to gain some experience working in a lab. It is a great first step and a real chance to put your studies into practice.
As Biochemistry Technical Officer, you are responsible for the support and day to day functioning of the Laboratory. This include, but is not limited to:
- Application and adherence of laboratory protocols
- Providing support to senior staff in running and maintaining quality assurance programs
- Be actively involved in running clinical assay systems for the delivery of daily services
- Blood collection duties
- Involvement with administrative roles dealing with OH&S, NATA and risk management (under supervision)
- Maintaining laboratory equipment and inventory control of consumables
- Ad hoc tasks as required by the team
In order to be considered for this role you must have a completed a Bachelor in Medical Sciences or similar. Any experience in a laboratory environment would be highly regarded (however not essential). We are looking for someone who is keen to learn and work as part of team. This is a fixed term contract, so you must be able to commit for the full 12 months of the contract which is starting asap.
