Management of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome has evolved in recent years and there is an array of treatment options for subfertility in the PCOS patient. As the most common endocrine disorder in women of reproductive age, developing a deeper understanding of the evidence-based guidelines for the assessment and management of PCOS is especially relevant for doctors on the frontline of general practice. Dr Kate McIlwaine will review the Rotterdam Diagnostic Criteria for PCOS with reference to an algorithm for use in clinical practice, outline key management areas for a patient presenting with PCOS and revise the referral guidance for patients with more complex PCOS.
