Ada Nicodemou's IVF Story

Genea patient and Home and Away actor Ada Nicodemou is a big believer in breaking down the taboos surrounding infertility. While struggling to conceive, Ada faced a barrage of questions about when she planned to have children.

“I would try to put a brave face on it and say ‘Oh, it will happen when it’s meant to happen.’ But it’s a question that is really hard to hear because I was already putting a lot of pressure on myself and asking ‘Why isn’t it happening?’,” Ada said.

Ada and Chrys, now the proud parents of beautiful baby boy Jonas, explained that their experience of struggling to conceive naturally convinced them of the need to speak up and share their story.

“We don’t talk about it enough,” she said.

“There’s nothing to be embarrassed about and that’s why I decided to talk about it publicly. This is something I went through and it’s really important to me.”

Hearing about other people who had experienced infertility also helped her cope with her own situation.

“You search out for people who have gone through it. That really helped me,” Ada said.

We hope hearing Ada’s story and reading about the journeys other couples have taken to achieve their dreams of a baby will give you some reassurance and comfort as you travel yours.
