Biography

Dr Miguel Marquez grew up in Sydney Western Suburbs and after one year at UNSW, migrated back to Uruguay to continue his studies. After graduating and working in Acute Care for a year, he migrated back to Australia and undertook his specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Westmead Hospital.

Through out his career Miguel has been actively involved in the education of medical students, junior doctors and nursing staff. He has also been active in presenting at education sessions for GP’s and also holds a position as Clinical Lecturer in the University of Sydney’s Medical School (Rural Health) and is a Director on the Board of Examiners at Diploma level for the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologist (RANZCOG).

Experience & Qualifications

Miguel spent 3 years of his training at Dubbo Hospital where he gained knowledge into the holistic approached needed to practice in a rural community - and his passion for supporting rural medicine drove him to set up practice in Dubbo, were he initiated Dubbo’s only Urodynamics Service.

In May 2016 he moved to Orange and continues to enjoys being able to provide comprehensive medical service to the rural community, travelling to Parkes, Cowra and Mudgee for clinics and surgery. He provides services to both public and private patients in Obstetrics, General Gynaecology, Urogynaecology, Minimal Invasive Surgery and Reproductive Medicine - IVF.

Additional Information

Miguel is the current training supervisor for the RANZCOG trainees at Orange Health Services, and has been involved in many committees to improved the health services to the region. He is currently the Facilitator for the OGETs program run by RANZCOG in the area, providing education in women’s health to health care providers in Western NSW Local Health District.

When he is not working or teaching, Miguel loves time with his family and his fun four children, and between his practice, family and formative commitments - he enjoys what ever time he has left to football (soccer) hiking and any outdoor activities.
