Experience & Qualifications
While newly appointed as Medical Director of Genea Oxford Fertility and recently returned from Australia, Pete’s connection to New Zealand stretches back to his childhood and he began his medical career in Christchurch.
Pete studied medicine at the University of Otago and trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Christchurch NZ and Leicester UK. He returned to New Zealand in 1981 and practiced first in Wellington and then Christchurch as an obstetrician and gynaecologist while also holding a number of roles in Canterbury’s burgeoning fertility services. These included Clinical Director of Canterbury District Health Board’s IVF Unit until 1993; Medical Director of Healthlink South’s IVF service until 1996; Medical Director of The Fertility Centre until 2008 and Medical Director of Repromed Christchurch (now Fertility Associates) until 2010.
He has a subspecialist Certificate in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (CREI) from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (RANZCOG).
More recently in Australia, Pete has served as the Medical Director of Monash IVF NSW and an Associate Professor at the University of Sydney.
Pete is a Member of the Fertility Society of Australia, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine and the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology.
