Biography

Dr Shannon Zawada is empathetic and approachable, focused on delivering personalised care tailored specifically to patients’ fertility concerns.

Shannon understands that a patient’s relationship with their doctor is key to feeling supported and empowered on their conception journey. Her personalised approach means that she spends time working with patients to define fertility issues and develop the most appropriate management plan to maximise patients’ potential to have a baby.

Shannon’s significant study and experience in the reproductive field means she ensures fertility treatment integrates clinical expertise with clinical evidence from systematic research. Patient values are also a key element of the decision making process under Shannon’s care. Shannon offers a full range of fertility treatments from lifestyle, ovulation tracking, ovulation induction, surgery and assisted reproductive techniques.

Shannon embraces technology and recognises its role in achieving success for patents, partnering with Genea to provide access to world leading instruments and scientific skill.

Experience & Qualifications

Originally from Perth, Shannon graduated from The University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Science degree with first class honours for her research into mitochondria in testicular tissue. Shannon moved to Sydney to study medicine at The University of Sydney. She then completed her Masters of Medicine in Reproductive Health and Human Genetics. She trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology Training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, The Canterbury Hospital with a rural rotation to The Royal Darwin Hospital obtaining her FRANZCOG. She undertook further subspecialty training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, The Royal Hospital for Women and Genea.

Additional Information

Shannon is a Lecturer at The University of Sydney in Perinatal and Women’s Health. She enjoys being involved in undergraduate medical student and post graduate education. Shannon has a warm and welcoming private practice in Bondi Junction, Glebe and Woollahra. Her practice focuses on Infertility, Reproductive Endocrinology, Gynaecology and Paediatric/Adolescent Gynaecology. She enjoys looking after women across different stages of their reproductive lives.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Shannon enjoys exploring the outside world through kayaking, cycling, hiking and travel. She is a keen musician and enjoys a diversity of music.
