Biography

Dr Monique has held a passion for reproductive medicine for over fifteen years. She is humbled by the trust that patients place in her to be a part of such a significant stage in their life – whether that is couples planning pregnancy, or young girls making their way through puberty, and all the ups and downs that this brings.

She prides herself in the time she takes to listen to the challenges faced by people hoping to grow their family. She appreciates that individuals must balance the need to progress through multiple investigations, procedures and clinic visits while trying to continue with everyday life, all the while waiting for that positive pregnancy test or ultrasound to hear their baby’s heartbeat. While working as an adolescent gynaecologist, she ensures her patients feel comfortable talking through what maturing young girls can perceive as sensitive or embarrassing issues.

Dr Monique completed her Certificate in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (CREI) training through Westmead Fertility Centre. As a CREI subspecialist, Dr Monique is one of less than eighty Doctors Australia-wide who have attained this highest recognised qualification for Fertility Specialists and Reproductive Gynaecologists. She has also been a member of the Westmead Fertility Centre Leadership Team, providing clinical expertise to assist with process improvements, new innovations and services.

Initially amazed by the molecular mechanisms underpinning fertility, Dr Monique worked as a scientist in the laboratory at Westmead Fertility Centre, while completing her undergraduate degrees at the University of Sydney (Bachelor of Science (Advanced) and Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (Honours Class 1). She trained as a Junior Doctor across Western Sydney during which time her excellent clinical skills and going the extra mile for patients and colleagues were recognised through her being awarded the Intern of the Year Prize. Her passion for women’s health led her to train to become an Obstetric and Gynaecology Specialist (FRANZCOG). She has also completed a Masters in Reproductive Medicine (MRepMed, University of NSW) at a High Distinction level.

Dr Monique established the Fertility Clinic at Blacktown Hospital in 2022, where she still works as a Fertility Specialist for Westmead Fertility Centre. She also works as a Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecologist at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

While working within Western Sydney’s major teaching hospitals, Monique shares her passion for infertility and adolescent gynaecology, mentoring medical students and junior doctors. Her deep understanding of the scientific and clinical aspects of reproductive medicine fosters her ability to explain complex information well, and as such has been invited to present at educational events both nationally and internationally. She provides support to other women in the medical profession and advocates for the health and welfare of women and children in Australia, particularly through her past role as President of the New South Wales Medical Women’s Society.

Monique is recognised as a dedicated and approachable member of the team dedicated to caring for couples going through fertility treatment or for young girls needing gynaecological care.

Monique is welcomed as the new Medical Director of Genea Bella Vista.
