IVF success rates
Understanding IVF statistics can be difficult, so on this page we’ve broken them down for you, using independently reviewed data and giving comparisons to the national average.
First it’s important to look at births per complete egg retrieval cycle (including the later transfer of resulting embryos). This gives you a sense of your overall chance of a live birth from any given egg retrieval cycle at any point in your journey.
By this measure and compared to the national average, your chances of IVF success are higher when you work with our team at Genea.

National average
Individual Genea clinic data independently audited and provided by NPESU in November 2025, which has been calculated by Genea to produce a combined total. Measure is from completed egg retrieval cycles performed in one year at all Genea clinics in 2022 with follow-up period to 2023. Age is female age at time the cycle was initiated. Data includes autologous cycles only (where a woman intended to or used her own eggs). FertilitySA excluded as not part of Genea at time of data collection.
But many people are successful at IVF on their first try, so it’s also important to look at the statistics for births per complete egg retrieval cycle (including the later transfer of resulting embryos) for patients doing their first ever egg retrieval cycle.
On this measure again, compared to the national average your chances of IVF success are higher when you work with our team at Genea.

Another statistic to consider is the chance of a successful live birth from any given treatment within a cycle with the intention of transferring a fresh or frozen embryo. This doesn’t include cycles where the eggs or embryos are frozen for later use.
Once again, across all reported age groups and compared to the national average, your chances of IVF success are higher when you work with our team at Genea.

Individual Genea clinic data independently audited and provided by NPESU in November 2025, which has been calculated by Genea to produce a combined total. Measure is from the chance of a live birth from each individual treatment attempt involving an intended embryo transfer that was started in one year at all Genea clinics (2023). Age is female age at time the cycle was initiated. Data includes autologous cycles only (where a woman intended to or used her own eggs). FertilitySA excluded as not part of Genea at time of data collection
It’s worth considering your chance of a live birth specifically from an embryo transfer (either fresh or frozen) within a cycle.
As with all of the reported measures, in this case again, compared to the national average your chances of IVF success are higher when you work with our team at Genea.

Finally, it is also worth reviewing where a clinical pregnancy has resulted after each treatment attempt, where Genea consistently ranks above the national average.

FertilitySA excluded as not part of Genea at time of data collection.
Note: Many factors can contribute to the likelihood of achieving a pregnancy or a live birth such as the cause of infertility, lifestyle (such as weight and smoking) and age.
The individual results will vary with individual circumstances. It is important to note that unfortunately not every treatment cycle will result in an egg collection, embryo transfer or having embryos to freeze.
The following graph shows outcomes for fresh embryo transfers (IVF/ICSI) that resulted in a clinical pregnancy and live birth during 2022. This data represents results from autologous cycles at all Genea clinics, where women used their own eggs. The success rates shown do not include any additional frozen embryo transfers that may have resulted from the same IVF treatment cycle.

The following graph shows outcomes for frozen embryo transfers that resulted in a clinical pregnancy and live birth during 2022. This data represents results from autologous cycles at all Genea clinics, where women used their own eggs. All PGT tested embryos are included in these results. The data is based on 1168 frozen embryo transfers for women under 35 Years and 1264 transfers for women aged 35-42 Years.
