Catarina is a renowned gynaecologist and obstetrician with 17 years’ experience at the prestigious Royal Women's Hospital, she has earned a reputation for her expertise in fertility care. Catarina actively engages in clinical research and imparts her vast knowledge by training future specialists.

Her journey in medicine began with her MBBS degree from Monash University in 1996. She pursued Obstetrics and Gynaecology training at Monash Health in 2000, following residencies in Australia and England. In 2006, she achieved FRANZCOG accreditation and obtained her Masters of Reproductive Surgery from UNSW in 2014.

Catarina's pursuit of excellence led her to become a Clinical Research Fellow at the John Radcliffe Hospital and the University of Oxford. She further honed her skills through an advanced laparoscopic fellowship at the esteemed CHU, Clermont-Ferrand, France. Since 2009, she has held the position of Head of Gynaecology Unit 1 at the Royal Women's Hospital, Melbourne.

Catarina is not only an esteemed surgeon but also actively contributes to ground-breaking clinical research at the Royal Women's Hospital. Her emphasis on enhancing patient experiences and achieving exceptional outcomes positions her at the forefront of medical innovation in gynaecological care. She remains dedicated to incorporating the latest advancements in her practice.

Passionate about education, Catarina plays a pivotal role in training future healthcare professionals. She imparts her expertise to trainees and medical students at the University of Melbourne, fostering the next generation of doctors. As the Training Director at the Australian Gynaecological Endoscopy Society (AGES), Catarina contributes to the advancement of surgical techniques and skills to future gynaecological surgeons.

Outside of her professional endeavours, she enjoys exploring her culinary interests by savouring good food. She also has a love for travel, always seeking new experiences and flavours around the world.
