Biography
Associate Professor Alex Polyakov is an Obstetrician, Gynaecologist and Fertility specialist practicing in East Melbourne. A/Prof Polyakov is unique among fertility specialists by offering a holistic approach that encompasses surgical, fertility, and obstetric care. This means Alex is highly trained to perform surgical interventions for gynaecological conditions such as fibroids, endometriosis, and intrauterine polyps/adhesions. Additionally, Alex can manage recurrent miscarriages and oversee all required fertility treatments, including Ovulation Induction, Intra-Uterine Insemination, and IVF/ICSI. Importantly, his care extends beyond conception, covering the antenatal period and the delivery of your baby, ensuring a continuum of care from conception to childbirth.
He graduated from medical school at the University of Adelaide in 2000.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) and a Fellow of the Australasian College of Legal Medicine (FACLM).
In addition to private practice, Alex serves as the Deputy Director of the Reproductive Biology Unit and Senior Consultant at the Royal Women’s Hospital Advanced Laparoscopic Unit, as well as a Medical Director of Genea Melbourne. He also holds an Associate Professorship at the University of Melbourne Medical School, where he teaches bioethics and medical law to postgraduate medical students. Alex's research focuses on evidence-based fertility strategies, novel approaches to infertility treatments, and ethical and medico-legal aspects of women's health. He is currently undertaking a PhD in bioethics. He has published over 60 scholarly papers and has presented at national and international scientific meetings.
