Experience and qualifications
Alice is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) and holds a Master of Reproductive Medicine (MRepMed) from the University of New South Wales. She graduated with honours from Monash University, completing a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2002. In her final year of studies, she was awarded the Robert Power Scholarship in Surgery at the Alfred Hospital, before going on to complete her surgical residency at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Over the following six years, she completed her fellowship training in obstetrics and gynaecology at busy public hospitals across Victoria and NSW.
Alice undertook advanced clinical training in fertility medicine at the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne, where she held the role of consultant fertility specialist at the Reproductive Services Unit. During her time there, she also served as the Women’s Services representative on the Transfusion Committee for seven years, and was an active member of several IVF-related committees, including the Donor Program Committee and the Clinical Review Committee. Her dedicated focus on fertility medicine and gynaecology has continued since 2010.
With a passion for education and connecting with others, Alice frequently presents at GP workshops and seminars on fertility medicine, as well as on broader areas of gynaecology, including developments in contraception and intrauterine devices (IUDs).
Outside work, Alice enjoys Marvel movies, anime, good food, and anything involving chocolate. Her greatest joy is spending time with her husband, two children, and their four-legged family member.

Approach to care
Alice believes strongly that a good patient-doctor relationship is built on more than evidence-based medicine alone. She takes the time to understand each patient as an individual, balancing a thorough discussion of all appropriate medical and surgical options with genuine care for the person in front of her. She consults fluently in English, Mandarin Chinese, and Fukienese, allowing her to connect with patients from a wide range of backgrounds.
“I have always believed in the power of a strong patient-doctor relationship. It’s not just about medicine, it’s also about understanding each patient as an individual. I know that this understanding, combined with evidence-based care and patient empowerment, can make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.” - Dr Alice Huang, Gynaecologist and Fertility Specialist, Genea Melbourne City
