Dr Lachlan Baxter

Dr Lachlan Baxter is an obstetrician and gynaecologist with a particular interest in minimally invasive surgery, endometriosis and pelvic pain. He also now provides fertility care alongside Genea's experienced team of fertility specialists in Perth and brings his extensive surgical expertise to patients who require surgery as part of their fertility journey.

Dr Baxter was the first trainee in Western Australian history to obtain credentialing for laparoscopic hysterectomies in his second year of training, and the first gynaecologist in Western Australia to perform day case hysterectomies. He has worked extensively across public and private sectors in Western Australia and completed his specialist training through King Edward Memorial Hospital.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Baxter is involved in surgical education and clinical leadership, including as a certified surgical coach and clinical lead of an early pregnancy assessment service.

Dr Baxter strives to provide exceptional patient-centred care. Whether someone is weighing up surgical options for endometriosis or pelvic pain, or needs a decision made quickly in an emergency setting, he takes the time to make sure each patient understands exactly what’s happening and why a particular option is being recommended.

Experience and qualifications

Dr Baxter holds Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG, 2024), a Master of Minimally Invasive Surgery and a Bachelor in Endoscopy through the European Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy, a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with Honours from the University of Notre Dame Australia, Fremantle, and a Bachelor of Science in Anatomy and Cell Pathology from the University of Sydney.

He completed his specialist training through King Edward Memorial Hospital, including roles as RANZCOG Training Registrar, Registrar, and Resident Medical Officer, and previously worked as a Senior Registrar across WA Health. He is currently a Consultant Staff Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Armadale Hospital, where he is also Clinical Lead of the Early Pregnancy Assessment Service and Lead Clinician for PROMPT and Emergency Simulation Training.

Dr Baxter is a certified surgical coach, providing coaching for other surgeons, and sits on the selection panel for medical students at the University of Notre Dame. He is also an Australian Medical Council WBA assessor.
