Biography
Dr Kate Burston brings her passion for reproductive medicine and extensive training to Genea Newcastle, specialising in comprehensive fertility care across the Hunter and Mid-North Coast regions. With a particular interest in male fertility, Kate is dedicated to serving patients from Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Port Stephens, extending her care to Port Macquarie.
Kate completed her Bachelor of Medicine at the University of Newcastle in 2011, excelling through the International Leadership Experience and Development Program. She further specialised with a Master of Reproductive Medicine with Excellence at the University of New South Wales in 2021 and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2023. She has also completed a Graduate Diploma of Medicine in Genomics and Precision Medicine.
Kate has achieved CREI qualification in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, following subspecialty training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Through this advanced training, she has developed comprehensive expertise in male and female infertility, fertility preservation, reproductive surgery, endocrinology and andrology, and recurrent pregnancy loss.
A previous member of the CREI Subspecialty Committee and an active member of professional societies including ESHRE, FSANZ and ASRM, Kate combines clinical excellence with a compassionate approach. As a Conjoint Lecturer at the University of Newcastle and Staff Specialist at John Hunter Hospital, she is committed to both patient care and medical education.
When not consulting patients, Kate enjoys stand-up paddleboarding on Lake Macquarie and spending time with her husband and two young children.
