40 years of Genea, an Australian fertility story

Genea was founded in 1986 by Professor Robert Jansen as Sydney IVF, operating from Macquarie Street in Sydney. We achieved our first pregnancy within one month of opening, and rebranded as Genea in 2011. We've helped families across Australia bring home over 40,000 babies over 40 years.

Four decades of fertility firsts, from pioneering the world blastocyst biopsy technique in 1994 to developing the Geri time lapse incubator. We combine cutting edge science with heartfelt patient care, supported by independently audited success rates that are consistently above the national average across all age groups.

The Geri incubator, exclusively used by Genea in Australia, has delivered a 12.2% increase in live births compared with traditional systems.* It's the only humidified time lapse instrument in Australia, and each pod is used solely for one patient. Embryos remain undisturbed for five days, with a dedicated camera allowing us to monitor development at all times.
