Biography
Dr Mark Livingstone is the Clinical Group Medical Director of Genea nationwide. He visited Tamworth to consult with regional patients for 20 years prior to the pandemic, and now consults Tamworth patients via Telehealth appointments.
Together with his secretary, Cath, Mark is committed to providing personalised, individualised care in a compassionate environment. Mark takes the time to explain medical terminology in easy-to-understand language, which helps to empower patients to make decisions regarding their treatment options. Mark will ensure that his patients have continued care directly from him throughout their treatment, and will perform all of his procedures on the day he believes to give the best chance of success - even on weekends.
Mark completed his medical school training in Scotland before moving to Australia in 1991. He has been treating patients dealing with infertility since 1996, first working in Westmead Hospital, then moving to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, prior to setting up his practice in O’Connell Street, Sydney in 2000. Mark was awarded the college medal for the highest mark in the membership examination before moving on to complete the three-year sub specialist Certification in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (CREI) in 2001 and a Master of Human Reproduction and Human Genetics at Sydney University in 2002.
Mark’s practice is diverse, and he sees patients with a range of fertility conditions including egg freezing, unexplained infertility, male factor infertility, polycystic ovaries and fallopian tube issues. He specialises in genetic conditions requiring preimplantation genetic diagnosis and couples requiring a second opinion who have had previous unsuccessful IVF cycles. In simple to understand terms, Mark explains to his patients treatment options such as ovulation induction, donor insemination, IVF, ICSI and preimplantation genetic diagnosis.
It is with great empathy that Mark treats his patients and understands that their fertility journey is often emotional. He will conduct his procedures on the day most suited to his patients' needs, even on weekends. He is readily accessible by telephone and, on most occasions, will speak with his patients on the day of their pregnancy test to be able to discuss the outcome.
