Genea has introduced the Genie genetic testing platform into our labs, increasing our capacity and expanding the range of embryos we can assess.
Genetic testing of embryos has been one of the most notable advances in IVF science. At Genea, we are taking it a step further by switching to a new genetic testing platform, Genie, with significantly enhanced capabilities.
Genea specialists are leaders in using preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) to help identify the embryos most likely to result in a healthy pregnancy. What's changed is how much more we can now test, and which embryos we can test.
Next-generation Genie platform
Genie is a next-generation genetic testing platform developed by Genea Biomedx, the world-leading reproductive technology company that grew out of Genea's own research.
Integrating Genie into our labs significantly increases our testing capacity, allowing us to process more embryo samples with greater speed and precision. But the most meaningful change is not about volume. It is about what we can now test that we could not before.
What this means for you:
- More embryos assessed - increased capacity means faster processing and a more thorough assessment of every embryo in your cycle
- Testing where it wasn't possible before - Genie enables us to assess 3PN and 1PN embryos that previous platforms could not safely test
- More options if you have fewer embryos - for patients with a limited number of fertilised eggs, an embryo that was previously untestable may now prove to be a viable option

Testing embryos that were previously out of reach
In IVF, not every fertilised egg develops in the expected way. Some embryos fertilise through an atypical process and, under previous testing protocols, would have been set aside because the risk of genetic testing was considered too high relative to the potential benefit.
The Genie platform changes this. It enables us to assess certain 3PN and 1PN embryos (embryos that fertilised abnormally but still developed to blastocyst) that we previously could not test safely, and in some cases, those embryos turn out to be chromosomally normal and viable for transfer.
For patients with only one or two fertilised embryos, if one of them falls into this category, it can change everything. An embryo that would previously have been unusable may, with Genie Genetic testing, prove to be a healthy option.
