Risks of ovulation induction

- Multiple pregnancies: Oral medications have approximately a 5-10% chance of giving twins, while injectable gonadotropins can have up to a 25% chance. Multiple pregnancies increase the risk of premature birth, low birth weight, gestational diabetes, and pre-eclampsia.
- Mood swings and emotional changes: Irritability, mood swings, anxiety, or depression may be experienced.
- Physical side effects: Enlarged ovaries may cause bloating or abdominal discomfort. Headaches, hot flushes, breast tenderness, and nausea have also been reported. However, these side effects tend to be mild and temporary.
