Embryos and eggs in storage - What are your options?
To remain in storage
In this case all that is needed is the payment of the storage fees, which will be forwarded to you at the relevant time of year. Please use the payment options printed at the bottom of your invoice.
Excess to your needs
1A) Allow your embryos to succumb: In this case embryos are removed from the liquid nitrogen tank and brought to room temperature, where they are allowed to succumb.
1B) Allow your embryos to succumb and collect cryopreservation straws: In this case embryos are removed from the liquid nitrogen tank and brought to room temperature where they are allowed to succumb and will be available for collection on the same day.

Option 2
Donate to another couple.
Once you have contacted a clinic that offers this service and they have determined that your embryos are suitable for donation please contact the Genea Transport Coordinator on transports@genea.com.au or call 02 8484 6588 who will send you the relevant forms to release your embryos.
Sperm in storage - What are your options?
Option 1
Your sperm remains in storage for potential use at a later date. In this case all that is needed is the payment of the storage fees, which will be forwarded to you at the relevant time of year. Please use the payment options printed at the bottom of your invoice.
Option 2
Disposal of your sperm. In this case, the sperm is removed from the liquid nitrogen tank and thawed at room temperate. Should you decide on this option, please download the consent for disposal of sperm form.

Option 3
Transport your sperm to another clinic. Once you have found a clinic, please contact our Transport Coordinator on transports@genea.com.au or call (02) 8484 6588 who will provide you with the consents necessary to release your sperm.
FAQs
You have several options for your stored reproductive material. You can continue storing it, have it disposed of when you no longer need it, transport sperm samples to another clinic, or donate embryos to another couple (though Genea doesn't offer embryo donation, other clinics do).
Storage fees are invoiced monthly, take a look at our treatment cost page for the most up to date storage cost. You'll receive your invoice at the relevant time each month with payment options included.
This means you've completed your family-building journey and no longer need your stored embryos or eggs for your own use.

If you're transferring donor sperm, please contact our donor coordinators, as there are limitations attached to transporting donor sperm and this will need to be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
