GeneaKinnect

Connecting parents of donor conceived children with other families who share the same donor. Discover shared stories and support, all with privacy and guidance from our caring team.

OverviewDiscover
We are pleased to advise that Genea has established GeneaKinnect, a program enabling same-donor families created through Genea to connect with one another, should they wish to do so.

What is GeneaKinnect?

GeneaKinnect enables parents who have had children using donor bank sperm or eggs through Genea to connect with other parents who used the same donor, allowing donor half-siblings to find and build relationships with one another.

Complete the registration form below to express your interest in joining GeneaKinnect.

What happens after you register your interest?

  • Our counselling team will receive your form and contact you to arrange a counselling session.
  • This session includes you and your partner (if applicable).
  • The session can be conducted in person or online.
  • We'll discuss the implications and expectations of sharing information and making contact.

Why is counselling required?

Choosing to connect with another family involves many considerations and potential outcomes that need careful thought. It's important to take time to explore these aspects with a qualified professional who can guide you through the decision-making process.

After your counselling session, you'll be able to sign a consent form to register your preferred contact details. These can then be shared with other families who used the same donor.

When will I hear from other families?

If and when there is a match:

  • You will be notified by email from our counselling team
  • We'll provide the agreed contact details of the other family or families
  • Please note that participation is entirely voluntary, so there may be no matches
Any contact following this information sharing will be entirely at the discretion of the families involved. Genea does not facilitate these ongoing connections.

What if there are problems down the track?

Genea is able to refer you to external counsellors who will be able to support you if necessary. Please note that our counsellors are not able to provide ongoing services.

What are the costs involved?

There is no charge for this service unless your treatment occurred at a non-Genea clinic.

Privacy

Your information will be held by Genea PTY Limited and only your agreed upon information will be disclosed to individuals with whom you are matched.
