Collecting and using your medications

Your IVF medications need to be dispensed from a pharmacy. We work with a number of pharmacies near Genea clinics to ensure you can access the right medications.

Patients at our Kent Street Sydney CBD clinic can collect medications onsite 7am - 5pm Monday - Friday and 7am - 3pm Saturday. 

Following changes to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) in mid-2015, IVF medications must be dispensed from a pharmacy rather than given directly by Genea's Nurses.

Your Fertility Specialist will prescribe the specific fertility medications you need during your cycle. Your Nursing Team will explain what each medication is for and when to use it.

Fertility medications are designed to be self-administered. Your Nurses will explain how and when to use them as you begin your cycle and can demonstrate the self-administration technique if you wish.

Yes. Contact your Nursing Team to make an appointment for a demonstration on how to self-administer your medications.

It's important to follow the storage guidelines clearly stated on the packaging of each medication. Improper storage can affect the medication's effectiveness.

Genea's Nurses cannot reissue medications that haven't been stored correctly, and you will need to repurchase them from the pharmacy.

Many medications have patient information booklets and videos available. Check the Medication Support Materials section for resources from Merck, MSD, and Ferring. You may need information from your medication pack to access some resources.

Yes. Genea has an app that you can download called MyGenea app to see your medication schedule, with clear instructions on when and how to take or inject each medication. You can also mark off your doses in the app as you go to help you stay on track, you will need this app for your cycle as all consent forms and patient health questionnaires are sent through this app.

Ferring offers the MiFertility Plan app, a comprehensive calendar tool that supports patients step-by-step through their IVF treatment cycle. 

Medications can be collected before Monday - Friday 7am to 5pm and Saturday 7am - 3pm3:00pm Monday to Saturday at Kent St Genea.
