Genea is one of Australia’s leading providers for infertility, IVF and other assisted conception treatment with more than 31 years of experience in the field.
We have long been a fertility pioneer, with research and technologies developed in-house virtually doubling IVF success rates in the mid-nineties and continuing to improve outcomes today. Our world leading instruments and technologies are sold globally but are exclusive to Genea clinics in Australia. In a recent breakthrough, we announced that a new version of our culture medium Gems, when combined with Genea’s Geri incubator, has seen a 12.2% increase in the number of pregnancies when compared to the traditional incubator and culture medium system*. The new technologies are leading to - on average - more embryos per IVF attempt.
Genea operates a full service clinic in Heidelberg, East Melbourne Victoria offering patients access to all of our leading technology. Our Heidelberg clinic houses our doctor consulting rooms, monitoring centre, laboratory, counselling services as well as dedicated nursing and administration teams, giving you easy access to the resources you need for every step of your fertility treatment.
Fertility Services at Genea Melbourne
Genea Melbourne offers a comprehensive range of assisted conception procedures, as well as genetic diagnosis and infertility counselling. We provide these services in our purpose built clinic, providing comfortable surrounds, respecting and maintaining your privacy.
As well as our convenient location in Heidelburg (East Melbourne), we’ve partnered with Dorevitch Pathology to make it easier for patients to find somewhere for their monitoring. We know that IVF treatment can be hard to fit in with life sometimes so Genea Melbourne patients now have access to any of Dorevitch Pathology’s 500 locations across Victoria for their regular blood tests. We also work with East Melbourne Ultrasound to give you a city option for your scans. All you need to do is speak with your nursing team to arrange external monitoring and ensure we get your results quickly.
Procedures take place at nearby Ramsay Warringal Private Hospital day surgery - equipped to perform all assisted conception procedures, including egg pick-up, testicular biopsies and anaesthesia for every type of treatment.
Our onsite laboratories use world leading technologies for IVF, sperm function testing, embryo biopsy for genetic diagnosis including PGD and PGS. Sperm, egg and embryo cryostorage is also available.
Getting started at Genea Melbourne
We are pleased to advise that as of 8 July 2020, Victorian patients will no longer need to undergo the National Police Record Check or the Child Protection Order Check.
Once you have met with a Genea Fertility Specialist and Fertility Counsellor (this is required under Victorian legislation) and have a treatment plan you are able to commence treatment as soon as you’re ready to. Your nurse coordinator will be the first point of contact for you who will provide all the information on what to expect for your upcoming cycle.
Pre-operative COVID-19 testing for all elective surgical patients
The Department of Health and Human Services has advised Genea that as of Wednesday 15 July 2020, all patients living, or working within in a Stage 3 restriction zone or other known hotspot, will need to be COVID-19 tested before being admitted to hospital, including for fertility treatment (IUI, OPU, ET, FET and sperm aspiration).
