How do IVF success rates work?
When measuring births per complete egg retrieval cycle, including later embryo transfers, patients treated across Genea's network have a higher chance of success than the national average.
It's important to understand that factors such as age, the underlying cause of infertility and lifestyle all influence individual outcomes, and not every cycle will result in an egg collection, embryo transfer or embryo freeze. In November 2025, Genea clinics recorded a birth rate of 51.4% per complete egg retrieval cycle for patients under 35 years, against a national average of 46.4%, and 25.9% for patients aged 35 to 42 years, against a national average of 23.6%.
We believe in clear, transparent reporting. Our results are independently audited and reported to the National Perinatal Epidemiology and Statistics Unit (NPESU), and you can compare clinics for yourself on the Australian Government's YourIVFSuccess website.

Is IVF covered by Medicare in South Australia?
From 1 July 2026, South Australia has its own fertility treatment rebate scheme, a first for the state. Eligible residents can claim up to $2,000 per treatment cycle (for up to two cycles) plus a $250 rebate for pre-fertility testing, on top of the existing Medicare IVF rebate. To qualify, you need to be an SA resident seeking to become pregnant, with an eligible out-of-pocket cost from 1 July 2026 onwards, and meet one of three financial criteria: receiving Family Tax Benefit, holding a Health Care Card, or a household income of $180,000 or less.
The SA rebate applies last, after Medicare (and the Medicare Safety Net, if relevant) has already reduced your costs, so the two can stack to lower what you pay overall. To apply, complete a declaration form with your specialist and submit it through the SA Government's Concessions and Grants portal, keeping receipts for any testing or treatment from 1 July 2026.
